Dato’ Sri Idris Jala is the President and CEO of PEMANDU Associates. He is a renowned transformation guru in turning around governments and businesses through his Big Fast Results (BFR) Methodology – 8 Steps of Transformation© and pragmatic solutions that are highly applicable in today’s fast-moving environment. A proven track record in delivering sustainable socio-economic reforms saw him named by Bloomberg under Top 10 Most Influential Policy Makers in the world, in 2014.

In addition, Idris Jala is an Expert Resource Speaker at the Harvard Health Leaders’ Ministerial Forum and a Visiting Fellow of Practice at the Oxford Blavatnik School of Government. He also served on the Advisory Panel for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on New Economic Growth as well as the Advisory Panel of World Bank. Dato Sri Idris Jala is also the Founder and Executive Chairman of the Global Transformation Forum (GTF).

Under his leadership, what was previously known as PEMANDU was also named by NESTA, UK and Bloomberg Philanthropies as one of the top 20 most innovative Government agencies in the world. Today, Idris Jala works with governments all over the world to deliver their respective transformation targets.

Prior to helming the firm, Idris Jala was the Managing Director/CEO at Malaysia Airlines (MAS), where he successfully brought about record profits for the airline which was suffering from prolonged losses.

Before MAS, he spent 23 years at Shell, rising the ranks to hold senior positions including Vice President of Shell Retail International and Vice President of the Business Development Consultancy, based in UK. This included several successful business turnaround efforts in Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

In view of his contribution throughout his career, Idris Jala received honorific titles from the King of Malaysia and various State Governments of Malaysia. He was also conferred the “First Order” medal by the Italian Government. Idris Jala holds a Bachelor Degree in Development Studies and Management from University Sains Malaysia and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations from Warwick University.
